Writing - Character Design - Illustration

Lauren Cipollo is a screenwriter, novelist, and illustrator specializing in science fiction, fantasy and other genre fare. Lauren designed over a dozen species and countless mechanics for the space adventure tabletop role-playing game Parallax. She then crafted the world and characters from the Parallax universe into a series of novels. The Parallax trilogy, written with co-author Matt Conant, will be released by Aethon Books in early 2024. Lauren has also adapted Parallax for TV as a one-hour pilot.

 

A lifelong fan of fantasy and not just science fiction, Lauren also authored the epic fantasy novel Dark & Zarus, which just went out on query in September 2022, and has already received full manuscript requests from Handspun Literary and INKWORKS. Her short story We Used to Fly, in the anthology When All That’s Left Are Stories, won a Silver Honorable Mention in the Writers of the Future contest, and is available on Amazon. She is currently developing two projects for TV: one a family-friendly animated sci-fi series, and one a live-action sitcom based on her real-life experiences as a zookeeper.

 

Lauren graduated from the University of the Arts Cum Laude with a BFA in animation. She spent 16 years as a zoo keeper, working at prestigious institutions like the Philadelphia Zoo and the San Diego Zoo. She loves to sprinkle in her animal behavior and biology knowledge into her stories.
